Daphne killed herself to go back to her own world. It always happens one month later, so it's probably because of the story's plausibility. Plausibility was specifically mentioned, so I doubt it was random.
Maybe the story is considered "finished," so she can finally kill herself and return. But if there's no soul (Daphne's soul), then the story can't continue to exist. That's why it keeps turning back time. Or maybe Daphne actually can't go back, so the book keeps resetting everything to keep the story alive.
