I’m not sure when but according to Juju’s announcement at DC, Desiree has been stealing Juju’s Official Global releases so he decided to add his watermark.

I genuinely don't understand people who pirate and are pressed about piracy (unless you're a translator you shouldn't even put your name on something illegal, just for self-preservation)

I’m just assuming that Juju is buying the stuff he uploads and when Desiree steals it, they actually upload it on their website to which they gain profit.

Yeah, it’s that Desire are profiting / paywalling it. Kind of defeats the purpose and is sort of against the ‘pirate code’ to begin with. It’s also a super subtle watermark!

that's one of the sites that uses ai translations, right? they aren't going to be deterred by watermarks, but warning readers that it's a scam website might help (really I just wish we could get rid of them here, I'm tiered of being notified the same chapter has been uploaded for the third time)

Oh god the multiple ‘new chapter’ notifications of chapters already read. The etiquette around that was maintained for so long across so many sites I didn’t even think it could be a problem until this year.

And yeah I unfortunately am not sure Desire will stop stealing freely available translations for profit. It does make me think they’re doing it to anyone who isn’t watermarking already for ease.
