honestly i get it, i felt that way from the start but him redeeming himself was no way an easy journey. it took YEARS of him slowly earning back her trust. i fear that no one understands the fl more than the ml, they had both gone through such traumatic events
The way i see it, during their marriage fl give him all of her heart to him but he abused her emotionally, making the entire world hated her while not explaining the truth to her. Yes the fl is ignorant at first but she redeemed herself by doing all those works and risking her life doing whatever she could, but ml redemption is mostly fighting his internal feelings and sorting it out himself. He did nothing significant towards fl that could make up for his actions that abused her to the point of committing suicide twice.
no you're totally right though! initially i agreed that they shouldn't have ended up together because fl deserves so much better (she still does) but i don't think the ml is a bad person, he just has a shit ton of trauma. that doesn't excuse what he did though!! he shouldn't have idealized that the fl was going to feel pity for him because at the end of the day, she grew up in a different environment and wasn't aware of the suffering of the people. she totally redeemed herself though! i think the manhwa is realistic especially how it showed that not everyone always gets a happy ending and that there is corruption in the world. most historical manhwas are rainbows and sunshine but i really do like how the author wrote ml's character and why he is the way he is. i'm totally not defending his actions because he did shitty things but it is realistic though in the way that a ton of people go back to their toxic exes and that communication always fixes small problems.
the war really had gotten me though and i was on edge the whole time. this story played with my emotions left and right. i really do love the fl choosing to work as a nurse and saving lives :') i'm an RN so this hit close to home
This has me flooding my eyes so bad but i disagree that they got together at the end the ml does NOT deserve redemption arc everything he did is too horrible ive read a few manhwas where ml regret but their actions are still redeemable but this one is just beyond saving from the start i was hoping they would separate at the end bcs i just cant take it hes too cruel not even his backstory could ever justify what he did to her
