I kinda understand why some people find the main story boring, because it's true that the plot is not that 'good'. But I also understand why many people like this (honestly I one of them), because sometimes we just want to see the characters being lovey dovey with each other without too much drama.
So if you want to read a story with a good plot, this is not one of them (though you can read the guideverse). But if you just want to see two characters deeply in love with each other (and often *do* it) you can read this. But warning, there's also a bit of angst/tragedy
