Pretty solid story. A good depiction of a toxic relationship dynamic and how it's the right person wrong time. Don't think the ending was to rushed, but more that there where plot holes that needed to be resolved or at least discussed.
We never see the MC talk with the ML about his childhood trauma and family dynamic. But maybe it wasn't needed due to them understanding that they would never really understand each other completely due to their different backgrounds. And rather be there for each other instead.
Their relationship is flawed and they realized that. Taking time from each other to allow the MC to heal and overcome his struggles.
