Newsflash! This Isn't As Bad As You're Making It Out To Be!

When I was 14 I developed a crush on my math teacher. That crush grew when, the next school year, he was letting me seek solace in his classroom during free periods (one wall was just floor-to-ceiling whiteboard, and he had a rainbow set of markers. I was depressed af during that time and dealing with other health issues. Having forty-five minutes to just exist without any expectations on me was a big deal.) Point is, he was my friend, and even after I left that school we kept in contact.

When I was 24, we met to catch up on things and eventually fell into a physical relationship. And yes, he was my first. I'm definitely not saying it was a smart move on my part, and my therapist has few kind words to say about him, but shit happens. There was a lot of things wrong in that relationship, and it really messed me up, but very little had to do with the fact that he was once my teacher. (More that he just didn't treat me well.)

So, for me, it's actually really nice to see this story with a happy ending. The sensei is a good person; none of his actions were predatory, he wasn't grooming Kaname, and he never crossed any boundaries. (Well. not intentionally. there was that thing in the haunted house, but he was so ridiculously sorry about that.) While questionable, considering the initial dynamic, there isn't actually anything problematic about their relationship. No one did anything wrong.

And for the love of god, y'all really need to understand the definition of paedophilia before throwing it around. Being attracted to *one specific person* who happens to be underage (by which I mean 16-17) is NOT the same as having a paraphilic attraction to children. It's not paedophilia, it's not even ephebophilia. Words have meanings. Learn them.
