The story as kids was great, but it got really frustrating as teens. FL created issues in her head and kept crying over spilt milk and acted like separation was the end of the world. Then she was just such a pick me-queen bee-bitch to put in simple terms. She wanted everyone's attention and love but didn’t commit to anyone. She literally dragged it out and toyed with their feelings for years. Every single one of the ML had no reason for staying hung up on her for over 10 years, blossoming from a childhood crush; only Joshua was understandable because he kept staying by her side and they were friends for years.
I guess it's also worth mentionning that Chloe, FL's female friend, served no purpose except for trying to pretend FL made any meaningful connections in her life outside of her childhood. Her whole life is only about 3 guys she met when she was 8. Which just adds to the pick me-queen bee vibes.
The whole arc about war was also uninteresting but somehow every romance fantasy seems to be doing that and drag it out. The fall of the enemy king was also very uninteresting. Just like how the war simply started, he simply died. That part of the story did get some good points back though because the feelings were better developped and explained, and as the FL finally processes everything, we get to have some closure. It took her way too long to get there but at least she did. So overall it was not a very good story, it was too long and the FL sucked for a good chunk of it, but ultimately not the worst type of story either.
Oh but the last part with Freddie reincarnating was so lame though. His death and how FL clung to his words, at first as a wound and then as an encouragement to keep going forward was the most realistic and bittersweet part of the story. She finally accepts that people leave your life sometimes, only for the dead to come back.
