Your right. But I think this goes beyond childish. He knows full well that this method would hurt the mc and on top of this if you truly love someone you would not want to risk the chance of them despising you. This isn’t love, it’s obsession (●￣(ｴ)￣●)
But Simon isn't all that bad... I mean, think about it, there's already the prince who's clearly the ML since he's part of lore so he'll definitely marry mc but what if the prince doesn't intend to marry her, what then?(Tho i know that's unlikely)
if we think about it objectively, her mother is right... People in medieval eras are really discriminating and vicious towards divorced noblewomen... And Simon isn't inherently evil... Childish, yes... But he earnestly had feelings for her.... And you can always learn to love someone... So in hindsight, he's the safe option... Tho, his brother is irredeemable...
