however being a femboy doesn’t make u gay and neither does being a tomboy make u a lesbian. it’s just stereotypes and assumptions.
yes it stems from misogyny and homophobia, immediately assuming fruity or pretty looking guy as gay is misogyny and stereotype of gay ppl and vice versa.
that's the whole reason why ppl are more accepting if u dress masculine or with men's clothing, it was seen as 'the norm', wear a dress as a man and you'll get tons of hate possible.
A lot of people are still very deep into "gender norms" and refuse to look at gender, sexuality, identity etc as a spectrum instead of a complete black and white concept. There are plenty of men who dress feminine and are straight, plenty of men who dress feminine and are gay, bi, pan, etc. There are 8 billion people on the planet, there are bound to be a plethora of different gender expressions and identities.
There's a lot of nuance to it but in society (idk where youre from but I'm going off of an american perspective) there is still a lot of homophobia laced into our every day lives. Femininity is seen as a negative thing when it comes to men or "masculinity." Femininity in general is looked down upon (It's that good ol misogyny for ya. Homophobia and misogyny go hand in hand). One example I heard that I liked is how being called a pussy is bad but the phrase "having balls" is seen as being tough and brave. Women have "resting bitch faces" but men have a more handsome smouldering look to them. Masculinity has positive connotations while femininity has a more negative connotation to it.
In a lot of peoples eyes, men are supposed to be tough and stoic, never complaining and working long hours to support their wife and children. We are slowly seeing society pushing back on those ideals and men are able to dress the way they want, express themselves how they please, express emotions, and be open about embracing their feminine sides. Of course we're really only at a small part of the beginning of it so there will be plenty of people who embrace homophobic ways of thinking when it comes to men being open about these things.
Of course theres a lot more to it than that but I guess thats a small tidbit of why people look at men who dress feminine and instantly mark them as gay
If feminine boys or boys that's more into their feminine side, likes dressing like girls are called gay then does that mean tomboys, girls that dresses like men, that likes boyish outfits, that more into their masculine side are lesbians?
Just think about it, when females dresses masc but say they're straight are cool, yet, males that dresses fem but when they say they're straight people doesn't believe it cause they're wearing outfits for females and would just call them gay...
Can't they be straight but still wear fem clothes just like females that are straight that wear masc clothes?
Does is stem from misogyny? Like when girl boss are called cool but gay boys are disgusting by homophobic people?
