The mc really made it seems like nothing although his life is a lot darker than he perceived, from his POV, it's like all fun and funny because he's used to the abuse. But, imagine regression again and again, living that exhausting life of unrequited love (or so it seems, but I think it's just admiration), never been the choice, abused again and again, insulted and bashed by people due to his legitimate status. Not to mention, he had to watch Daphne unalived her self over and over agajn despite being the only thing that matters. It might seems like nothing to the reader's perspective, but it it's hell if we were to experience it. Just changing the genre is enough to make this equally depressing.
