I agree with a lot of what you said. It’s not really a bl as it doesn’t have much love or romance in it, more like toxic obsessions that are very very rooted in hidden problems. Maybe the author chose bl because it’s just an easier way to label a story which I understand.
A lot of people dislike this story bc of its controversial contents and romanticization. While I haven’t read this in a while so some details are lost to me, I don’t particularly remember any scenes where I felt like the author was romanticizing the situation. I only remember feeling tragedy and despair the more I kept reading. I like that killing stalking covers smth so insane, and if the fans do end up romanticizing it’s not always the author’s fault.
I actually don’t really care if people are into what happens in this story I mean everyone has their guilty pleasures ig but I wish people could enjoy it AND admit that it’s fucked up instead of trying to sugarcoat it…
It shouldn't be labeled as a Yaoi/BL, because it's anything but. However, it's a psychological thriller—most people love it for that, rather than the romance. It's a good storyline, and the characters are interesting with depth. The hate this receives is equivalent to watching a horror movie and hating it because there's g*re.
Not everything needs to be sunshine and rainbows.
People argue that it romanticizes this and that, but it doesn't. Some fans who lost the meaning romanticize certain scenes (grape) and the relationship as a whole. But that isn't the message. The author and artist do a decent job of showing the cruelty and the reality of their situation.
The story is meant to be tragic... You're meant to question your morality. Some people enjoy stories like that, so why yuck someone's yum?
Once you don't romanticize it or overly sympathize with Sangwoo, I don't think you're doing anything wrong.
