I got this same impression too, professor is trying to come off as if he can live without garam, by claiming that he's of such higher standing he's ignoring the truth that he does indeed want garam's attention. It's like when a women leaves a man and then he starts flexing money on his ig story like a bum
Ik no ones said anything negative between their dynamic but ik theres people questioning it. Prof wasn’t saying ‘Its cuz of me you made it this far’ blah blah to guilt trip him, rather because he dosen’t want garam to leave him. By sort of praising his ego he’s trying to make himself look good, sorta like a dependable person, rather than guilt trip /manipulation. Yes they are soorttaaa toxic but thats what makes them work so well tbh
