In this scene, Caelus (written in the novel) ends up staying the night at the Friedrich estate. And Derrick, Richard's brother suggests that he should "visit the emperor" as in sexually lmao. He did this cuz he thought the prince would kick him out and humiliate him.
Well long story short, he didn't. He ends up getting pinned by the prince and gets strangled andbthey argued all night . After that Richard sends him off, but he had a disheveled look, with red markings on the neck. This made the maids think something scandalous happened. Rumors spread. People start believing that the prince favors him and shit. Making Richard's father and brother stop messing with him.
There is more plot happening, like when he was invited to the ball of the villainess of the og story, and a cliche event happened where the male lead appears to save the main girl. But the mc gets to have that treatment. The villainess invites richard to dance, but he refused, and instead asked the Villainess' father to dance, which there is an interesting subplot that the Duke (villainess' father) has the corpse of the empress, and he harbored unrequited feelings for the emperor (it's the current conflict at ch 50 to recent).
There's also this subplot where mc makes a deal with the emperor to retrieve the empress' body, and he also made a deal with that duke. So he goes to this black market to get a magic book that nullifies magical barriers. Which the duke placed on the empress' corpse. And he ends up seeing a slave market, where the sub male lead, who was a prince from a different kingdom was kidnapped.
Long story short again, he saves them and now that sub male lead is inlove with him.
There's too many things happening to him, like when he had to go to the northern mountain to get some sort of berry to complete a potion maker's request, and he ends up getting tailed by ml. Well, there's also that scene where mc jumped off a cliff...
Anyways the ml doesn't really hate mc

Wait wdym the Duke is in love with the emperor??? LIKE SERIOUSLY? (=・ω・=) also will they have romance though? The MC and ML, I kinda don't see them being lovey dovey or that ML being obsess with him
The Duke basically had a one sided love to the emperor. But emperor's feelings were complicated. He wanted to be with him, he just didnt think it was possible. So now the emperor's wife was actually the duke's ex fiancee. But she was in love with the emperor. At first the emperor didnt even want the empress, cuz he felt that he betrayed the duke, but the duke grew distant, and this made the emperor frustrated. It only grew wild when the duke started attempting to assassinate the empress, that's when he got mad.
After the prince's birth, the empress died, and using magic, the duke stole the body. As for the villainess, she was born as a tool. There was a scene where he said "the duke reproduced a child with some random woman, to hide his sodomy" it was an insane sentence.
As for the ml and mc, there is development, but not in the way you think. The ml now knows that the mc hates him, but mc still intends to marry him and have a "cute heir" (still waiting for that day hahahah). And mc stopped pretending and became more like himself, but still keen on pursuing the prince. The prince has so many scenes where he is interested in him, like when he got jealous of the fact that he was close with the duke, or when he found out he "took in a male slave", and when his cousin, wanted to be friends with him.
But mc doesnt give a shit. He is extremely inlove with the main girl, he is hella straight and dense that he doesn't realize the advances of all the other men who he interacted with
