Even though it had some funny moments the overall story vibe was very melancholic. I almost thought that there was betrayal and death. Maybe Reo killed Nanase in his past life and that's why he's so guilty but there wasn't such stuff. I did like the story but it felt so heavy without much reason. The guilt was really apparent. They thought that they didn't belong with each other.
It reminded me of modern angst stories revolving around worries of becoming a gay couple. Some characters be like: "Maybe I should let him go and have him make his own family for his own happiness." This premise was something similar.
They clearly hadn't overcame their past lives so it was kinda understandable. I was mentally shouting that there's no need to hold back anymore! The societal views and duties of back then aren't here anymore! So I was really glad that they resolved it but man, are they such a timid couple.
Honestly, seeing Reo as a kid in his past life and Nanase look so much older than him had me worried. But even after they grew older their appearance didn't look that much different. Maybe the age gap wasn't that big. Anyway, they genuinely loved each other and that's all that matters (because they clearly knew their boundaries).
