They explained at the end of chap 33. I searched it up and found this syndrome called Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS)

I did research for like...less than a minute on Google (lol) and it says that, even if they have PMDS, they're still unable to get pregnant.....

I guess 'fiction' remains 'fictional' despite the setting is modern times (fck, it's still confusing to me)
