I'd have liked it better if it was the story from the flashback we're in right now. At least we wouldn't have that weird creepy uncle and groomed boy dynamic en (even if it isn't technically, but it's teetering the line for sure). Just because it's not cliché doesn't mean it's always better than the clichéd story
