Slice of life

I really liked this one. 8/10

The emotions the characters went through felt genuine and believable. It was refreshing to read about two people whose relationship was challenged mainly by outside circumstances rather than problems between themselves. There was never any real conflict in their love for each other; instead, that love became the glue that kept them from falling apart when life became difficult.

Yes, they behaved immaturely and sometimes with a certain naïveté, but that felt appropriate for their age rather than frustrating. I liked that the author didn’t shy away or gloss over this aspect. One was ridiculously simple and naive. The other would get worked up very quickly and cause more harm than good. Their mistakes and reactions reflected young people trying to navigate complicated situations the best they could.

Overall, it was a heartfelt story about two people who remained each other’s source of strength despite the obstacles around them. It wasn’t the plot that kept me reading but the way the two were so genuine with one another.
