the best friend gives up pretty quick and is happy as long as the mc is happy — and it seems like the story is setting him up with another love interest instead <33

Yeah this annoyed me too but it's really nothing, he steps back and is just happy Taejoon is happy.
I just started reading this and I love it. However, the whole “I’m your best friend and I’ve been in love with you for longer” trope is annoying. They always interfere right when they finally get someone like they didn’t have space and opportunity before.
