honestly, i can't blame them for what direction they're going for... unless you're someone who has severe abandonment issues, you'll never understand how it feels to want something yet expect the worse. this goes if betrayal is involved too, once your trust is broken, things will never be the same. you can still love them but distrust just wouldn't go away, it's the same cycle from the past—even if it would be different, it will never feel like anything will change.
it's frustrating as a reader, true, but trauma is not easily overcomed. it's hard to open up to new opportunities and relationships are not easily mend with just words and actions. being paranoid is not something that'll disappear with just reassurance. anyways, the story is great<3 i have high hopes since i really love big apple too
