So the smoke ritual seems to be done to erase MC’s memories whenever he’s super distressed. The servants always has an answer to every question he’s confused abt, even if MC should’ve known the answer for his said questions. MC tested his servants this time w a question he already knew an answer to. The fact that they all lied and pretended that it wasn’t weird that he asked a question he should’ve known. That’s why MC is disappointed
