I’m a HUGE sucker for stories where the mc is depressed, unable to love themselves/hating themselves for whatever reason. Yet, they find people who are at their lowest moments, and manage to shed a light of hope to them. In return, those people the mc saved become indebted towards them, perhaps even beginning to love them, eventually helping the mc to love themselves.
