source? statistics? any reputable research to back up his claim? a 14 year old's tiktok post doesn't count. hoping you can link me to actual verifiable sources because you honestly sound no different from people harping the "violent video games make people violent" rhetoric. unless you believe in that too?
There aren’t any. All the evidence is “word of mouth” and even that is extremely low. It’s a very disingenuous thing to use as their “proof” of why real life situations shouldn’t be included in fiction.
As you’ve said, the people playing violent video games don’t suddenly become violent. We can’t cater to psychopaths, sociopaths, etc. Reading only happy, fluffy situations is definitely a choice, but not having stories that include real problems, hinders people from learning about events very real people experience that they never will and empathizing with the psychology behind why certain things may happen. Reading opens a door for learning more about the subject.
Again, we cannot cater to the unrecordable amount of people who don’t know how to separate fiction from reality, it takes away their accountability for their crimes to blame psychotic behavior on fictional stories. It’s a completely ridiculous notion.
