I havent done emdr but i have had friends who have done it and found it really helpful. There is a miley cyrus interview where she discussed her experience with it.
I've done a different kind of trauma informed cbt called brain spotting which is similar. It can be heavy and intense but the important thing to remember is that your brain is only going to let you see and work on things that are within your capability. Meaning, of you have some unlocked trauma, no type of therapy (and for that matter, no therapist that does this kind of therapy) is going to push you beyond what you are able to handle.
So trust yourself and trust your therapist that this is all to work on and process things and your brain is not going to give you more than you can handle. Try to take on a positive mindset by intentionally thinking things like, this is going to help me learn about myself, this will be an opportunity to process some tough emotions, this is going to help me feel better about [thing].
Hope that helps and hope your experience is good! And hey, if it is really tough or scary and you dont like it, you DONT have to continue it! But it is worth trying to see if it works for you
