I think the baseball player has gone to work for the supernatural handling division or whatever it is the mc works for as his field partner because he got possessed by the wolf spirit and cant work a regular job or is trying to find a way to get the spirit out of him while also solving other paranormal stuff. The cube at the end of the chapter looks like their first case together and in order to get out they have to do the challenge which is boinking.
