It's not like being a prince makes him a more special type of human (like powerful in terms of magic or whatever), he's just a man with a title, responsibilities and power to move others, but he has to earn it properly.
I guess you're right, that was the answer all along.
Maybe thats the answer he's looking for in his student, something something about humility (especially since ed is royalty), integrity, accountability, those kind of things.
