Atp, it's obvious this season is trash. I'm now trying to piece it together and understand how this season fits into the story at all.
From what we understand, the grandpa was always a dick but his wife (grandma) was the one who somehow kept him in check and stopped him from being a homophobic mob boss. But, how? Like, what was she doing to subdue his insanity? Look at the way he treats his own daughter and grandson. Look at the way he speaks about the subservience of women and the importance of familial (patriarchal) hierarchy. How tf did that sweet old lady subdue (or even marry) that?
Other questions. If the mom knew her Dad was like this, why not warn Haebom and Taesung? Why not move to a different country? Like, this def feels like a flee for your lives situation. Also, where is the mom's company? Taesung's parents are both powerful CEOs. You're telling me she was kidnapped for however long after the funeral, and no one in her company questioned her whereabouts OR put out a missing person report? Imagine her BOD flipping shit because their leader is missing and stock prices are plummeting. Incredibly unrealistic.
Lastly, if the grandpa doesn't actually care about his company's legacy or Taesung's "happiness", then wtf are we doing here? He's just snuffing out gayness from his family tree? Why go this far? Just fucking officially disown these people you clearly hate so much. Why spend all this money hiring a psychopath to torture them and blackmail you later? This piece in particular just makes the grandpa feel like a crazy dumbass. I swear to god, it feels like this is all gonna be about him grieving his late wife and taking out his anger on everyone else. Then the author will try to redeem him and ask us readers to accept that "hurt people hurt people". Gtfo.
Idk. Based on the hella short episodes, the continuity errors, and the bad pacing I'd have to assume the author is writing this season as they go without proper planning. Others have pointed out that it feels like they're trying to change course and lighten the trauma because readers aren't happy--tbh, I get that vibe too. This just feels lazy and way too out of left field to not be an AU. We better get ts wrapped up sooner rather than later.
