I truly believe author wanted to make a lasting impression at the beginning of the season and both getting drugged and engage in sex was their solution because that is what sells tbh. And of course something silly must happen so they can downplay everything.
I still like this story but really hate this kind of thing. Like I say in my comment, it's not like they wouldn't do it like that without drugs and with consent. It's actually what they'll do and stay in character. But no...
I get that author wanted to start the new season with a literal bang but why whyyy rape. It's doesn't make sense and even less with this kind of characters. They could have had funny extreme out of this world consensual sex just fine. They will probably in the future.
But inserting it when the guy already passed out, that's rape. All was just terrible.
But I knew the author will pull the 'we both were under the influence' to justify it... this is why many are so permissive with rape and non consensual scenes. They think they're fine, hot and it's fiction and ok, fine, all good, but still it came out of nowhere and this was lazy writing.
And he didn't felt bad enough because it was downplayed with a funny scene...
The part where the mc saw the guy who wronged him was more dramatic than the ml feeling sorry. What a disappointment.
I hope this is the last time because mostly it was not necessary. It's not according with the pace or their dynamic. But I guess author wanted to be like the rest for popularity or something...
