wtf is with these authors??

I mostly read BL but why are some these authors obsessed with rape culture? Especially when it’s not necessary for the plot. Even just insinuating it would be enough but they go all out instead. Literally drawing every fucking panel like they’re enjoying it. It’s concerning.

It has been a trend in BLs lately LOL. When I first became a BL reader pre-pandemic... it wasn't worse like this. It leans more on the fluff, relationship of characters, and focused more on the plot line rather than the smut — hence, why I have come to like BL.

But now... New BLs released currently and somehow loves to include non-consensual acts.

It got worst, but one of the reasons I think is... it's selling ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

    People are loving it.

Moreover, most of these even have top tier art LOL (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

As a BL reader, I have no choice but to read & accept this is BL now, though there are STILL such good ones WITHOUT incorporating those non-consensual acts.

Missin' that era of BL, namely "Signs", "Cherry Blossom After Winter", "On or Off", "The New Recruit", "The Dangerous Convenience Store", Oh ALL OF BWAT WORKS AS ALWAYS HE'S THE BEST!!!, and many more (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

The thing is, (unpopular opinion?) I actually like when there is some sort of abuse/SA and it's properly shown how the character is affected and how they heal from it, but it's almost never like that!! BL authors usually depict rape as something that the readers (and the mc) should find arousing. Even when it's actually shown as disgusting and traumatizing the main character just gets over it in 2 panels for no reason, wtf. If you're gonna brush it off like that and not address it why include it in the first place!! (Also, why is it that I never see these poor ukes go to a therapist??)

I agree! It’s rampant but the art is beautiful. Plus the plots outside of it are pretty good sometimes. I think that’s why I hate it but I don’t want that to ruin the genre for me. It probably won’t but it’s just something I have noticed. Especially when they make the green flag a rapist out of nowhere.

I feel like it has gotten better and less rapey with time- but only for Mangas.
Manhwas have been getting a lot worse over time however. It seems that as Korean works got more popular, the non con elements in them have increased too.

I get this too. When they actually acknowledge the issue it’s a little more bearable. I just hate that this is being pushed as a “sex scene” rather than what it is.
