In the novel the exiled lady really is a nice person. She doesnt seek revenge. She wrote that letter because her husband (Crown Prince of Carlfon) urged her to write it. It was a simple letter free from malice. The ones who used it against the curprits are her husband and her adoptive brother. They really love the exile lady and planned the own fall of those that hurt her. Here are their endings:
The prince: paralyzed and basically banished. Hes not really the Queens son. The Queen and the MC's mother are friends, she would have continued to be the prince mother if only he didnt pulled that stunt towards his fiance. Queen was looking forward in making the MC her daughter. And he screwed that up so Queen mad.
The friend: She ended her relationship with her wealthy fiance thinking he was bankrupt (hes not) her letter towards the MCs brother ( who disguished as a wealthy merchant) was given to the stable boy. Who then kidnapped her because he was moved by her love letter to him. She lived a life of poverty.
The white lotus: She fed the prince poison (thats why hes paralyzed) she thought it was a fertility drug. She basically wanted a son to secure her position. Girl didnt even check her source before feeding it to the prince. She was imprisoned for poisoning him.
The knight: Got killed. This one is so in love with the MC that he did not protect her.
Btw the Duke and the Queen were in on it too. They worked in the shadows to take revenge for the MC. Shes really loved.
