I can absolutely understand the concept the author was going for, but what is the point of romance between a human (with a high rank) and a beast if it doesn’t change the perception of them? When Ryan mistakes that other horned hybrid as Shia, he sees the look of fear and doesn’t question it. Shia should prove to them that the beasts they treat as livestock and pets are as sentient as humans. The doctor even confirms this to them. It’s hard for me to enjoy a story like this when we see how other hybrids are treated. Ryan also never apologized for the way he treated Shia despite us knowing he regrets it to an extent. I’m not going to question why Shia fell for him, he was incredibly lonely and outside of the start it’s not like Ryan was treating him terribly. Proximity and warmth are really important and he might also find Ryan more physically attractive. I really liked the art and the character designs in this but it’s a shame that the author didn’t seem to make the story any deeper than slave falling for their owner kinda deal. Also Wenshin was a really annoying character that I feel the author favored too much. Zero retribution for literally trying to poison Ryan or selling off the “very important” beast to another village? Get that cretin of my screen omg
