I think logic is that he has cat with him and most hotels don't allow pets
The novel made the layout of events much clearer and less rush / instant transportation. I highly recommend reading the novel if you can!
Nothing is stopping the MC from renting an hotel/Airbnb before his boiler is fixed. Some people sure like to live life on hard mode for no reason.
