I came back for a reread and I wanted to note that even if their relationship was vague and they might’ve slept with others in the beginning - like in chapter 15 the MC (?) kinda steps back and realizes he doesn’t really want to with anyone else. So by a certain point even in their weird situation they haven’t like slept with others at a certain point. And the promise to not sleep with others seems to mostly be assurance than anything else to solidify that even though they won’t name it; they’re in the throes of their “romance” for lack of better terms to define what they are. It’s an incredibly bittersweet relationship that spans over the course of a few years it seems, but they’re always thinking of eachother and it’s cute to realize they wanna stay together.
