Kinda the best or one of the most recognised ones in Korea, it is what Stanford, Harvard or MIT are for Americans, it’s not only BL, Korean media in general mentions it a lot
I searched it but it’s not really like super top university tho?? The tops are SNU,Yonsei, and Korea University, it’s like around top 15 , so just curious why would they choose that univ out of all the other top schools
I don't know about your country, but google can be completely different from the opinion of students. In my country too, some famous top universities on google (or marks wise) is not that good compared to some other universities that ranked slightly beow it. So maybe Hanguk universitty is better to people who live there.
or maybe getting in snu is too tough, to even imagine being there. Like in my country the toppest university for one exam select only like 100 students out of 3 million students who give it. (wait i just checked the selection rate, it is 10% ig it is not too unimaginable)
or the author just wanted to use some basic university, with easily drawable and recognized sites for foriegners
Hanguk can be translated as “Korea” so it might actually be a mistake in translation, since it’s always referenced as “Hanguk university” in the original language(? Hanguk is one thing and Hankuk must be another. I’m nowhere near knowing or speaking Korean so I might be mistaken, they could be talking about the Korea University you talked about, since they translate it as Hanguk and not Hankuk(which is, indeed, lower in ranking)? Or maybe the rankings changed in recent years? Dunno man, I swear to god it’s not only a bl thing, I consumed Kdramas, movies, novels and other webtoon genres and istg they always talk about Hanguk Uni like they talk about the big ones in other countries
actually korean has only one consonant for both g/k sound, so hanguk/hankul/hangeul is same word in korean.
Is there a particular reason why every BL student character are either going to Hanguk University or already studying there??
