I don't know how you read it to come to this conclusion.
First, their close friend did not tell MC (Shinwoo)'s trauma stories to ANYONE or just some random person. Their close friend told the story to MC's BOYFRIEND, AKA ML (Han). The reason their close friend told the story to ML is because ML was desperate to better understand MC's circumstances and the way MC thinks, so that he could resolve the issues in their relationship (lack of communication and ML being a stubborn+ immature in the past). Their close friend got all the information from MC's neighbor. MC's neighbor didn't tell MC's story to anyone either, but felt that at least one or two people needed to know about it.
Second, MC did not resent his mother. MC's depression and low self esteem comes from his father&aunt blaming him for his brother's death and lack of praise. MC in his teen knew how his father, grandma and aunt treated her mother. He also knows his mother couldn't get a divorce unless she gave up custody, but then his aunt mock his mother for leaving him, that's why he hoped that his mother could find happiness with her new family. So, just by discovering that his mother actually blames herself for the accident (instead of him), MC feels hurt and thinks "It's not her fault." Only then does MC realize he shouldn't blame himself and how ML must have felt (on top of that, MC willingly want to break free from depression).
sorry i don't really remember the characters anymore (and names). does desperation from the boyfriend's end make it ok for the friend to share his trauma though? i think it's on the grey area on whether it's correct to share the trauma even if it's for the sake of the main character (like the concept of a white lie). but in my perspective, it's just morally wrong. given that the main character could react negatively if he didn't liked that the person he liked knew about his past, or heard it from someone else?
about his mother, i don't really remember the plot anymore. in any case, the writing of his trauma felt over simplified, especially how shitty he felt about himself at the beginning of the story. nobody with a trauma wakes up and decides he wants to break free because he realizes how his mother feels. sure, it could break the cycle he was spiralling in, but it doesn't become all sunny in the next episode lol.
but thank you for sharing. i think maybe i just wasn't that interested in the first place so maybe i missed out some important details. story just didn't felt real to me :-)
people have extremely high praise for this manhwa but it's not my cup of tea. ml's backstory/trauma were not made known directly to mc by him, a third party had to secretly tell him (is this not icky? imagine a CLOSE friend just telling anyone your traumatic stories?). a big portion of ml's mental issues were caused by his mother, and we all know he has depression-like low self-esteem. but this issue was resolved in like 1 chapter? with a stranger (his step sister)? and all of a sudden he can afford to confidently love mc, because he now knows his mother thinks of him? and all of a sudden he knows how his partner feels when he has low self-esteem?? HUH?? and he forgives his mother? after how many years of depression caused by family trauma and people leaving him. how??? how is this realistic, be so fr guys.
