I enjoyed but felt lacking

This story is a good depiction of fleeting feelings and whims of a dragon. It was portrayed very well.
But Lux's realization and reflection to what he had learned through Mikhail was meh. He might've learn affection and what and how humans are but there's no remorse nor sympathy on how he played with Mikhail considering he was the human he was longing for.
Also I don't wanna nitpick but why is the 9th prince doing all the work while the imperial family is safe in the castle. So much for saying that Mikhail was nothing.
The structure of the story was also confusing because we are reading a dream within a dream and then there would be a vision. If it was intended to tickle the brain it failed miserably because it felt confusing.
The artstyle was gorgeous by the end but the story could've been more.
Lastly, THE SALAMANDERS ARE FREAKIN' CUTE.
