I hope the ML isn't a jerk and truly loves her sincerely. I can't bear to see the FL—who has already suffered such deep emotional trauma since childhood—get hurt all over again by the person she likes. I wouldn't be able to accept an outcome where the ML simply regrets his actions and ends up living happily ever after with her. Couldn't the author write a better story?
