I see your point but, their harvests are going great, they’re creating new stuff that are trending and their financial situation is handed by our MC. At the rate they’re growing, money won’t be a problem soon enough.
Aside from that, it has been mentioned before that the MC’s grandfather (former head) was great friends with the Marquis. Not to mention the story didn’t show any conflicts with them too. I’m sure if needed, the marquis will provide aid given their loyalty and the fact MC’s Father did say that despite being independent, they’ll follow the Marquis Fraction.
But I think becoming independent is a bad thing, the taxes the now baron has to pay would increase, the king said the heavy duty to protect the land from the demons it's totally the baron job, they won't get any aid from the marquis
