The MC was a scumbag but was self aware and trapped in horrible circumstances to a point you get more frustrated at him for falling in love than for him hurting others with his actions (even in the situation with his persistent friend) he's not malicious just an idiot with karma. But the ML was disgusting uugh the power dynamic, the level of control he had over him was disturbing: Ruined his life by sabotaging his chances of finding a job, made him prostitute himself in exchange of stoping the harassment, kidnaped him and held him hostage, got his brother in prison and schemed with others to guilt trip the MC in staying with him.
