She was literally on her knees saying "how hard" it was for her when her own son was literally the one suffering from homophobic bullying till he reached his limit and finally fought back. To only take drastic measures when the victim fights back by basically banishing him out of the house to "keep the peace" is just fucked up.
Well I mean, as a mother, she had a very tough decision to make which she makes clear. It’s clear that, despite her other son’s homophobia, she still loves him (as a mother would). She knew if she let her other son live independently he’ll most likely fuck up. It was either let her other child mess up his life or let the mature one be independent, and she chose the latter. If she let the one being a turd go off and be independent, it’s clear that wouldn’t have been the valid move you think it is too. Saying the mother is guilt-tripping him is a stretch, she just wants what’s best for both of them albeit with tough decisions—they ARE her literal children after all. I just believe you’re thinking too low of the mother without thinking about the decision she had to make critically.. The means she chose may be controversial but it has evidently lead to a better outcome for MC.
But the one she decided to kick out was a minor in HIGH SCHOOL and the other one was ALREADY AN ADULT. In what world does it make sense to force a MINOR to live on their own but keep coddling and housing a bigoted manchild adult? The best way to show her love to both would be to protect the child who has done nothing wrong and is the victim of the situation by kicking out the one who’s homophobic and an active threat to his family and himself so that he can face the consequences of his actions. This was the worst possible choice she could have made imo. Also her being like “i dont know how he would survive living on his own” well isnt that even MORE of an incentive to start making sure that he can by separating him? She could still support him financially and get him a place to stay just like shes doing with woojin. Idk it just makes no sense at all
Like thank god Woojin can defend himself, but what about the sister? What if she discovers shes queer or something and then is living in the same house as a violent homophobe? In what way would that be safe for her?
By the mother's logic, she would need to leave the family house too, because peace needs to be kept. Every child the older brother discriminated got to go because apparently their mother love them equally–those are her children, after all, and since it's a tough decision to make, it's alright to let the good children go and keep the bigot
