kinda perfectly explains the reason why i get pissed at BLs showing straight weddings, which is surprisingly common. like just off the top of my head i remember it happening in pearl boy, plaything, love order, just in the past couple of months. i completely understand that the vast majority of people reading BL are women so they probably think nothing of it but it's just so frustrating how even a genre focused on love between men stays so heteronormative. i like escapism in my fiction as much as the next person but i also really appreciate the more grounded viewpoint this series offers (even if the whole getting together with your straight best friend plot is complete fantasy lol)
