I think that Wayne dude might be the same species as Dia... he said his gran trusted basically nobody, that's why she chose Van for the experiment. Wayne being the same species would make sense for her to entrust overseeing the experiment, as he's already in the know of the whole thing. He's also very handsome and seems barely socialized, with very clear psychopathic tendencies and an obsessive streak. He also seems to know about Dia's true nature a little too well. But I might be entirely wrong, just my theory heh
