Be so fr first love means romantically loving someone or being attracted to one even if its not sexual. I cant go up to a 12 year old and tell them oh youre my first love. This was wrong and completely not in par with yuris character and all that the author has shown us about yuri beibg kind compassionate understanding kesping distance and even his bounderies ans how hes distanced himself from people too much. So yes i think its completely thebauthors fault for taking this in the wrong way and having yuri say fkrst love instead of admire or compassion or any of that sort. Its 100% authors fault
