If only they've communicated the 1st time they met each other again, none of the unnecessary stuff would have transpired. I know it's hard to control one's feelings especially if you experienced something bad but be the bigger person and listen, then you'll get to understand each other. Easier said than done but can be tried to avoid more toxicity.
