This is kinda absurd. Was the village chief crazy?! I don't mind to look down on them.because they were commoners or some of the like but honestly the author is a bit dumb. In a such strict hierarchical society it was suicide to talk back to your lord. And he dared to tell the princess to get out of that land? Gosh in that world view, all lands belong to the king, imperial family and nobles. Commoners like us are just numbers to fill the statistics. Though we still probably are only just numbers to the government.
