I feel like the story by itself had a lot of potential. It's quite complex and psychological but the execution is pretty bad? Like if there was more prolonged scenes of them in high school/interspersed w meeting then in present time/tension of why they fell out/it turning out to be ML's internalized homophobia- would have been a great reveal. They should have also shown his downward spiral and then slow clawing out of it just to give everything up for the MC.
