Genuinely if you guys are expecting Astrid to have better morals, you will all be disappointed. This is a very non-serious, kind of fast paced story that is very fun if you don’t take it too seriously.
I also advise that people look at how they act more than what they say because the curse is kinda…confusing? Even Astrid and Leti are confused but it’s kinda like the family can’t decipher or tell what they are feeling but they are feeling something.

Astrid isn’t upset about the child sacrifice, she’s upset because the duke can’t say he loves her (because of the curse that he can’t seem to understand what he feels) and that’s the primary reason for the “divorce” (they are both happily in love LMFAO) but the duke is very dedicated and loving towards Astrid, he really just can’t decipher his feelings because of the curse.
Honestly the curse doesn’t make so much sense so far (I’m more than half way through the novel) but we will see LOL
