I’m a crier

Novella incoming.

There are two types of stories I cry over. The first is stories that don’t deserve to be cried over. The things that get me most are pointless breakups (“maybe we just weren’t meant to be, you’ll be better off without me, we’re too different,” etc.) and silly misunderstandings (“I really thought we felt the same, but I guess I was wrong”). Approximately 98% of the time I’m crying over BL, it’s for this reason. And it’s even funnier because the stories that do this kind of thing well usually DON’T make me cry, only the sloppy ones. However, there’s a second category I cry over, and it’s that kind where putting the overwhelming emotions I’m feeling in that moment into words is basically impossible. The number of BL that fall into this category is almost definitely less than 10, and this is one of them.

I don’t know if I’ve seen the concept of understanding oneself done as masterfully as it is here. I already thought the main story was incredible, but it only really tackles Jaegyu’s heart. But the side stories, oh my god. Really taking a look at Cheongrok’s feelings and struggles and fears just tore me apart. I won’t go into details because you should read it yourself and feel those feelings firsthand. But this is one of the best written BL I’ve ever read, easily. I don’t think I can make it any clearer how much this story deserves your attention and praise. It belongs in a museum and deserves to be studied for centuries to come. Thanks for reading.
