.. its been p long since i read this but.. i get that alot of people dislike the fact yul is so popular online when he’s clearly portrayed as the antagonist of the series and the bad guy. But i also think it really comes down to entertainment, and what kind of characters people are generally drawn to.
And this is my personal opinion but characters other than the mc and yul really didnt leave much of a impression on me and felt like filler sometimes IMO. Obviously the mc is happier and in a much healthier relationship with the endgame love interest but it does feel a little boring to me all in all, since yul feels like much more of compelling a character in comparison. Therefore, ppl end up rooting for him because they dislike the alternative, which does sounds crazy since the alternative is the happier/healthier one.. but in this case, the story centers around yul long enough already for him to feel more interesting.
Of course, I recognise this is all subject to my personal opinion so anyone else is completely in their own right to think the opposite/otherwise.
Hence, i also dont view people liking/rooting for him is really about being edgy or different, since in this case i can really see it being just a case of personal preference. And well, yandere characters have always been quite popular in media so it’s really not that unexpected either.
