It's most prominent with the BL community ngl but it happens in comment sections of straight or GL stories too. It's genuinely annoying when you want to try to start an actual conversation about any story featuring graphic content and/or themes only to get jumped by TikTok users who just call you slurs and tell you to separate fiction from reality for daring to even mildly criticise some sloppily-written work.

It feels like anytime someone criticises a messy plot line or point out that a dynamic is straight up toxic, some people immediately jump to "you dont understand complex story telling" or call you a literal child.
Like.. can we be so fr rn?? You can completely grasp the narrative, understand the subtext, and still think the writing isn't good or that a character choice is gross. Disliking a plot isn't a lack of comprehension. Sometimes people have different opinions and tastes.
Its especially wild watching some people act like reading and enjoying non consensual, toxic tropes makes them an intellectual elite. If your only defense for a story is insulting someone's maturity, maybe the story isn't as deep as you think it is.
Where do you draw the line? Have any of you guys noticed this getting worse in some bl fandoms? Or is it just everywhere?
