Maybe the author had a traumatic brain injury that turned them into a sadistic psychopath

I usually hate comments saying "why is this still going" or that type of shit
But I agree this time.
This is so unnecessary and it genuinely feels like an abuse of this manhua's fan base. If the author wanted to write angst, they should have published another manhua

Like hhhhh I can kind of understand it from a writing perspective. The grandpa had been a villain identified way back in the beginning, so you want to address him and have the main character deal with him. But he could have stayed in the past. He could have just been Taesung's mom's problem to deal with and a piece of her history that explains the rough relationship between her and her son.
And this type of angst only hits THIS FUCKING HARD when you're already attached to the characters, so maybe that's another driving factor.

But it's just not cool. The author is abusing their characters and the fan base that has attached themselves to this work and it will never feel the same again.
Because this is a whole ass genre change. It went from fluffy, slice of life to psychological torture drama. YOU CANT FUCKING DO THAT THATS SO FUCKED UP AND WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU

Also, I just want to say that I know it wasn't actually slice-of-life, but it was, like, the day-to-day, low stakes kind of drama genre that I don't know how else to identify
